ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE ORPHANAGE

The intake capacity of the Orphanage has increased from Ten (10) in 2002 to sixty-five (65) in 2010. The Orphanage has a means of transport that facilitates movement and other activities in and outside the orphanage. The long-term goal of Board of Trustees of Good Shepherd Orphanage to establish a Basic School to train and cater for the orphanage Children and other Children in and outside the Orphanage came to realization and on 8th August 2004, the School was officially opened. The School has an approximate population of 400 pupils till date from nursery to J.S.S 2.The Orphanage has a complete Computer Library for the training of the orphans in I.T literacy. It also had constructed Borehole Water to cater for the Orphans Water needs. The Orphanage has built a well equipped Kitchen and Dining Hall to cater for food preparation and feeding for the Orphans and had also established Football Academy to train orphans and other young people in the art of Football.

 

FUTURE PLANS OF THE ORPHANAGE

The Good Shepherd Orphanage has plans to network with like-minded Individuals, Churches and Organizations both locally and international to foster and protect the cause and rights of poor and homeless children nationally and around the world. It will also invest in and establish food crop farming to supplement the nutritional needs of the Children at the Orphanage. It will also be the plan of the Orphanage to establish an Orphanage Clinic or Hospital to take care and handle health needs of the Orphanage Children as well as children and poor people from the surrounding communities within the Orphanage catchment area. It is also the plan of the Orphanage to establish a Vocational Training Center or Institute to train the Orphans with hand-works and develop their human skills, potentials and resources practically. It expects to expand its orphans Children’s intake capacity to enable it take up new Orphan Children as much as possible from time to time.
